Zoiglland (English)

We had a little getaway in late October 2006, our last big bike ride of the season. We took the train from Erlangen to Weiherhammer (through Nuremberg), and we picked out a hilly route to Windescheschenbach and Falkenberg through a couple of nice stretches of forest (map, split up: a , 2 , 3 Overview map - Nuremberg II, Bamberg ul). The ride was indeed great - thanks to the weather, and challenging - thanks to the hill iness. If it'd been colder, we probably would not have made it to Falkenberg.

A few photos:
Neunkirchen in pastures with Stone Park in the distance. The forest south of Windescheschenbach a , 2 . Windescheschenbach from the West, just before the 140m descent into town. Just prior to that, we passed this older lady as she was out toiling uphill along a lonely stretch of country road...where to, we had no idea. Despite the exertion of her climb, she of course gave us a heart-felt "Grüß Gott!"

Finally in Falkenberg, after almost 50km, we treated ourselves to a couple of Seidla(s) of good Falkenberger Zoigl. It was hoppy and dry, and perhaps it tasted better than it would've, had we not arrived via a 3 hour bike ride. What's special about Falkenberg is the castle, which looms above the brewhouse. 1 , 2 , 3 (Brauhaus on the right)

Then back to Windescheschenbach in a race against the sunset , with a break in Neuhaus to quaff Schoilmichel's Zoiglbier, which, unfortunately was sour and ended up being used as plant food. The parlour was packed and much too stuffy for us--but barely smokey at all, so we stayed outside, to the locals' astonishment. 1 , 2 , 3 (I forget what the Zoigl star is called.)

We dined in the famous Zoigl-Hotel in W'bach, where the food is highly recommended, and the beer not at all bad. After that, off to one of the other Zoigl houses which were open on that weekend, before we took the train back home. Oh yeah, the arrival in Nuremberg was so late - owing to a problem with the train - The train that sent us home in a taxi, as we'd missed the last train to Erlangen. We had to go back and get our bikes the next day ...

Zoiglland

In late October 2006 we made a trip to Zoiglland, our last great bike ride of the season. The train from Erlangen to Weiherhammer (of Nuremberg), we took, and we chose a hilly tour to Windescheschenbach and Falkenberg through some beautiful forests (split card: a , 2 , 3 overview map - Nuremberg ul, ol Bamberg). Well, the tour was, however, thanks to the weather and super tough, thanks to the hill, it would have been colder, we would probably not be made to Falkenberg.

A few photos: the

Just before we passed this lady as she is only gone for a walk along a lonely country road ... route where we had no idea. Despite the effort of her climb, she of course gave us a hearty "Good day God!

Finally in Falkenberg, after almost 50km, we treated ourselves to a few Seidla of good Falkenberger Zoigl. Hoppy was and dry, and perhaps tasted better than it had, we would not after 3 hours, arrived by bicycle . The special was the castle, which towers above the brewery. a , 2 , 3 (brewery on the right)

Then back to Windescheschenbach in the race against sunset , with a break in Neuhaus to Schoilmichels Zoiglbier to sip, which was unfortunately sour and was used as a fertilizer at the end, the room was very busy and much too warm and damp and humid for us -. for but little smoky, so we RECOURSE outside, to the astonishment of locals. a , 2, 3 (I forgot how the Zoigl star is called.)

we had dinner at the famous hotel in Zoigl W'bach, where the food is recommended, however genuine, and the beer not bad. Then one of the other Zoiglhäuser who were geöffenet on that weekend before we took the train back home. Oh, yes, the arrival in Nuremberg was so late because of technical failure of the train, the railway sent us home in a taxi. The wheels we had to pick the next day ...
